Singas Project

The Singas Project is a quite usual formation at first sight. Three guys with a frontwoman suggests a smooth and feminine musical orientation, no to mention that if we use the twice-told expression: nu jazz, most of the people has straight expectations.

The band notes that they play an unfizzy conception of jazz music which definiton fits their musical style very well: they have been trying to extract their very own version of this genre though their rock and reggae based heart cannot be denied. Their roots are quite visible if somebody checks their live shows: the sensation of The Police wrapped into old-school jazz vibrations, in the interpretation of an energetic singer who hints the sexy spice into the sound. Singas Project exploded into the hungarian music scene in 2005 and they immediately played on all the important festivals in Hungary. In short time they got noticed by high level organisers from their neighbouring countries and started playing at prestigious international festivals like Bratislava Jazz Festival or Sarajevo Winter Festival.

Meanwhile they became a beloved opening act for foreign artists in Hungarian clubs like Richard Dorfmeister, Parov Stelar, Deti Picasso, Muzykoterapia or Najwa Nimri. Their remixes appeared on several hungarian and international compilations among which Cafe del Mar is one of their most notable turn-out. Their LP, Digested Hearts is out in 2011.

A 2004-ben alakult Singas Project, manapság egyszerűen csak Singas, a hazai nu jazz porond egyik legkevésbé bekategorizálható zenei megmozdulása.

A 2006 ban megjelent első Merry Go Round LP-jük után évről-évre valami teljesen mással rukkol elő a az alapító dalszerző trió, Csernák Zoltán (zongora), Szabó Dénes Kornél (bőgő és basszusgitár), Berger Dalma (ének), az évről-évre újabb megjelenéseket produkáló csapatnak, esze ágában sincs lépést tartani a rajongókkal, a kezdetben elektronikára épülő chill out hangzás mára kísérletező jazz-é alakult, masszív, sodró élő megszólalással.

Második lemezükkel kerültek igazán a magyar zenei underground köztudatba, a 2007-es YoLife szinte pillanatok alatt elfogyott a lemezboltok polcairól, a jazz, elektronika és rock határán egyensúlyozó dalok nemcsak a hazai közönséget hódítótták meg, Voice abban az évben felkerült a neves Cafe del Mar válogatásra is, az ezt követő 2009-es This is Theatre, Honey pedig a fiatal, magyar jazz-közönség kapta fel a fejét.

Mára a zenekar, túl a nemrégiben lezajlott tagcserék után, új dobossal kiegészülve, egy hosszú próbaidőszakot és stúdiózást maga mögött hagyva, kiérlelt produkcióvá állt össze, ahol az improvizáció és kísérletezés kapja a főszerepet. Legújabb EP-jük Too Many Girlfriends, Too Many Boyfriends, 2010 végén jelent meg.
